When you are done typing text on Notepad, and if you would like to save your notepad text file on Desktop, you need to click "File", "Save as" and you need to select "Desktop" to save your files on Desktop. BUT if Desktop icon is not showing just below Favorites in Navigation Pane, here is how you need to solve the problem by following given instructions below:
1. Right click on "Favorites"
2. Click on "Restore Favorite links"
3. You now click on "Black arrow icon just before star icon before "Favorites"
4. Right click on "Favorites" again
5. Click on "Sort by name"
6. Now your Desktop icon is showing below Favorites in Navigation Pane.
